World Maths Day

On the 4th March 2009 thousands of learners from around the world logged onto www.worldmathday.com.

The aim - Unite with students and schools from around the world to set a new world record!

The Challenge - to correctly answer more than 182,445,169 questions in 48 hours.

Room 5 was lucky enough to be part of this!  We logged on and versed children from all around the globe - from Trinidad to Ireland to America and even Argentina. Sometimes we even versed each other!  When you log on with your own password you can create your own character and then race against time to complete the most basic facts.  It starts when it is March 4th somewhere in the world and it finishes when it is no longer March 4th anywhere.

The learners in Room 5 were able to practice for the event during maths time and at home for their homework.  It was a win win situation.  The children were happy because they were having fun and Mrs Rihari was happy because they were getting faster at their basic facts.

Roll on World Maths Day 2010!
