Turangawaewae
Warmest greetings to our Pomaria School community from Turangawaewae!!
It has been great catching up with what fantastic holidays our learners have had through the Christmas break. If you haven’t had a chance to catch up with your child’s teacher then please take the opportunity to come in and meet them on our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening to be held next Wednesday 25th at 6.00pm.
We are extremely fortunate in Turangawaewae to have five talented teachers working with our enthusiastic learners. They are
Miss Boon (Room 1)
Ms. Kaveinga (Room 2)
Miss Robinson (Room3)
Mrs van Beek(nee Miss Dittmer) (Room 4)
and
Mrs Rihari (Room 5).
The learners in Turangawaewae will have a chance to work with each teacher in shared fitness, sports and assembly times. They will also have the opportunity to work with their ‘buddies’.
In Rooms 1 – 5, we are fostering the tuakana/teina approach. This refers to the relationship between an older (tuakana) person to a younger (teina) person. So far, the buddies have been able to read, exercise, play, sing and even cook together!
Your Turangawaewae is not only a place where you can stand tall, feel proud and know you belong – it is also the feeling you get when you are in that place. We want all the learners in Turangawaewae to get that feeling when they come to school. To know that Pomaria School is a place where they belong, where they are valued, and a place they will hold in their hearts when they leave to continue their education.
TUMEKE TURANGAWAEWAE!!!!!
